While still playing, he became a youth coach at NEC Nijmegen.


1999
Rene travels with Wiel Coerver to Qatar. Appointed as Manager of Qatar Under 18's.


1999
Appointed as First Team Manager for Al-Gharafa, A Qatari Football Team in the Al Gharafa district of Al Rayyan.


2000
Appointed as First Team Manager for Al-Sadd, A Qatari Football Team in the Al Sadd district of the city of Goha.


2001
Appointed as Technical Skills Coach at Manchester United's Youth Academy.


2006
Rene signs a three year contract with Danish club Brøndby IF to become first team coach of the club.


2007
Re-joins Manchester United as technical skills development coach mainly to work with the first team. Meulensteen takes over as first team coach in August 2008.


2013
Rene returned to England as manager at Fulham FC.


2016
Rene was presented as head coach by Maccabi Haifa from the Israeli Premier League.
